Transportation Choices Annual Gala Fundraising Campaign

Campaign Creator + Storyteller + Marketing Strategy + Writer + Video Assistance

One of my favorite accomplishments as the Communications Manager for Transportation Choices Coalition was creating the narrative theme, visual storyline, strategic promotions, and fundraising materials for their annual “Tuxes & Trains” gala.

I collaborated with a graphic designer to feature actual plants that grew in the neighborhood where the newest light rail station was opening, in North Seattle, throughout the visual design, along with the light rail imagery.

The visual storylines for their annual gala had been traditionally based in more “machinery” and “tech” and “map” imagery, but since I happen to also have a degree in botany (MSc Ethnobotany), I was intrigued by telling the story of how public transportation and its infrastructure are not exclusively “technical,” because the people who are using it are in closer touch with our natural environment.

And I wasn’t the only one intrigued by this story! The 2021 annual Tuxes & Trains gala was the highest grossing fundraiser to that date.
