Managing Editor + Creative Direction + Column Writer + Production Manager

As the Communications & Development Manager for Tucson Audubon Society, a chapter of the National Audubon Society dedicated to the conservation of birds and their habitats, I got to totally reinvent the quarterly membership magazine that went out to more than 12k members.

As the new Managing Editor, I led a total re-envisioning of the 32-34 page magazine from creative direction to editorial calendaring and content sourcing. I led content strategy, wrote articles, established regular columns, worked cross-functionally to produce feature articles from staff members, solicited and edited work from freelance authors and photographers, and worked directly with the publishing vendor to make it all real.

Several surveys sent out to members returned abundant praise and positive feedback on the new iteration of their beloved quarterly magazine.

I loved everything about being a Managing Editor and would love an opportunity to create another magazine.
